Invest in yourself and your students - with someone else's money! The funding opportunities below are specifically for K-12 STEM educators and are sorted into four categories:

Grants

ACS-Hach Professional Development Grant
This ACS-Hach Professional Development Grant allows high school chemistry educators teaching in a U.S. or U.S. territory school to request up to $2,500 to support high school chemistry teacher’s professional development to enhance their teaching and student learning. Applications are accepted from October 15 – January 21 each year.

Toshiba America Foundation STEM Grant: Grades 6 - 12
Toshiba America Foundation accepts applications from teachers who are passionate about making science and mathematics more engaging for their students through project-based learning. Grades 6-12 grant requests for up to $5,000 are accepted and reviewed four times a year – March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1. Grades 6-12 grant requests for more than $5,000 are accepted and reviewed twice a year - May 1 and November 1.

ASM Materials Education Foundation Materials Science Grant
The ASM Materials Education Foundation awards “Living in a Material World” grants to help K-12 teachers enhance student awareness of the everyday materials around them and the role that materials play in society. $500 grants are awarded to teachers for the development of a hands-on, curriculum-based materials science project that involves student observation, teamwork, mathematics, and science skills. Applications are reviewed twice a year - March 31 and August 31.

ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grant
This ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grant allows high school chemistry educators teaching in a U.S. or U.S. territory school to request up to $1,800 to support ideas and purchase materials that enhance classroom learning, foster student development, and reveal the wonders of chemistry. Applications are accepted from February 1 – June 1 each year.

ACS CCS Chemical Safety Grant
The ACS Committee on Chemical Safety (CCS) offers the Chemical Safety Grant to middle and high school science teachers to promote chemical safety excellence in secondary education. Teachers can request up to $3,000 to fund actions or opportunities that will improve chemical safety in their teaching environment. Applications are accepted from March 1 – August 1 each year.

Toshiba America Foundation STEM Grant: Grades K - 5
Toshiba America Foundation accepts applications from teachers who are passionate about making science and mathematics more engaging for their students through project-based learning. K-5 grade teachers are invited to apply for up to $1,000 to help bring an innovative hands-on project into their own classroom. Applications are due on October 1 each year.

Society for Science STEM Research Grant
The Society for Science STEM Research Grant provides support to middle and high school teachers engaging their students in authentic scientific research. Teachers can apply for up to $5,000 to purchase specialized equipment or $1,000 in pre-selected equipment. Applications are due mid-October each year.

ACS ChemClub Community Activities Grant
The ChemClub Community Activity Grant supports chartered ACS ChemClubs in community interactions by providing funding for service projects or efforts to improve science learning experiences in the local community. Chartered ChemClubs are eligible to receive a Flinn Scientific gift certificate of up to $500 to offset the cost of supplies and materials related to the activity. Applications are accepted from August 1 – November 1 each year.

Vernier Science Education Inspiration Grant
This grant program recognizes innovative educators who currently engage — or seek to engage — their students through creative implementation of Vernier technology. These educators deliver hands-on, socially relevant STEM education that inspires scientific curiosity and fosters STEM literacy. Grantees will receive $1,000 in Vernier technology as well as related software licenses and professional development. Applications are accepted from September 1 – November 30 each year.

Gravely and Paige Grants for STEM Teachers
The Gravely and Paige Grants provide funding to elementary and middle schools in the United States to promote STEM innovation in the classrooms with an emphasis on academic programs. Grants of up to $2,000 are awarded. Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis.

Ciena Teaching Grant
The Ciena Grants support classroom teachers with the implementation of innovative and engaging science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs, activities, and technology (software and hardware) to promote learning and digital equality. Grants of up to $3,000 are awarded. Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis.
Scholarships

ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship
This scholarship of up to $6,000 is awarded to professionals in the chemistry field pursuing a Master's degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher. Applications are accepted from February 1 – May 1 each year.

ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship
This scholarship of up to $6,000 is awarded to recent graduates and professionals with limited experience interested in becoming secondary chemistry teachers by pursuing a Master's degree in education or becoming a certified chemistry teacher. Applications are accepted from February 1 – May 1 each year.

AFCEA STEM Teacher Scholarship
The AFCEA Educational Foundation is offering scholarships of $2,500 to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) subjects at a U.S. school in grades K-12. Applications are accepted from January 1 – May 1 each year.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)
This is the nation's highest honor for K-12 STEM educators and recognizes teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. K-6 teachers and 7-12 teachers apply in alternate year cycles. The winner is awarded $10,000 and travel expenses to attend the award ceremony. Applications open in the fall and are due in early February each year.

James Bryant Conant Award in High School Chemistry Teaching
This annual award recognizes, encourages, and stimulates outstanding teachers of high school chemistry in the United States, its possessions or territories, at the national level. The winner is awarded $5,000 and travel expenses to attend the award ceremony. Nominations are accepted from July 1 – November 1 each year.

George C. Pimentel Award in Chemical Education
This annual award recognizes outstanding contributions to chemical education. The winner is awarded $5,000 and travel expenses to attend the award ceremony. Nominations are accepted from July 1 – November 1 each year.

ACS Award for Encouraging Underrepresented and Economically Disadvantaged Students into Careers in the Chemical Sciences
This annual award recognizes significant accomplishments by individuals in stimulating students underrepresented in the profession to pursue careers in the chemical sciences. The winner is awarded $5,000 and travel expenses to attend the award ceremony. Additionally, an academic institution designated by the recipient will receive a grant of $10,000 to strengthen its activities in meeting the objectives of the award. Nominations are accepted from July 1 – November 1 each year.

NSTA Awards and Recognition Program
The NSTA Awards and Recognition Program recognize exceptional individuals for their accomplishments and outstanding work in the science education field. There are various awards for educators of different experience levels and grade levels. The application deadline for all awards is December 21 each year.
Fellowships

Teach Earth Fellowship
This fellowship embeds teachers with world-class scientists on active research expeditions. By taking part in meaningful, hands-on research in the field, teachers return to school with a fresh perspective and are better able to engage their students on topics of science and environmental stewardship. Fully and partially funded fellowships available. Applications are due mid-January each year.

ACS Fellows Program
The American Chemical Society Fellows Program recognizes and honors ACS members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the science and the profession and for their equally exemplary service to the Society. Nominations are accepted from February 1 – April 1 each year.

U. S. Department of Energy Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship (AEF) Program
This program provides a unique opportunity for accomplished K-12 STEM educators to serve 11 months in Washington, D.C., in a federal agency or U.S. Congressional Office bringing their experiences as STEM educators to their host offices to inform federal STEM education efforts. Applications are due mid-November each year.
