Access is an AACT member benefit. Lesson Plan: Exploring the Laws of Definite and Multiple Proportions Mark as Favorite (7 Favorites)

In this lesson, students will review the concept of percent composition and then apply it to the laws of definite and multiple proportions.

  • Review, Culminating Project, Mixtures, Separating Mixtures, Beer's Law, Concentration, Redox Reaction, Half Reactions, pH, Titrations, Buffers, Indicators, Ionic Bonding, Covalent Bonding, Alloys, Percent Composition, Le Châtelier's Principle, Enthalpy, Calorimetry, Conductivity | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lesson Plan: AP Chemistry Experimental Evidence Review Mark as Favorite (37 Favorites)

In this lesson, students will evaluate data from 16 simulated lab experiments that were designed to mirror the Recommended Labs from the College Board. Corresponding lab experiments and demonstration options have also been included for teacher reference.

  • Stoichiometry, Limiting Reactant, Percent Composition, Lewis Structures, Percent Composition | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lab: Untouchable Key Escape Room Mark as Favorite (103 Favorites)

In this lab, students are presented with a key wrapped in aluminum foil a quantity of solid copper (II) chloride, a balance, distilled water and a selection of standard laboratory glassware and equipment. Without using their hands to touch the key, students must react the key with a copper (II) chloride solution in order to free the key and use it to escape from the chemistry classroom!

  • Percent Composition, Intermolecular Forces, Interdisciplinary, Elements | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Activity: Investigating how the Chemistry of Plate Tectonics Affects Volcanoes Mark as Favorite (15 Favorites)

In this activity, students will learn about the impact chemistry has on plate tectonics and volcanoes. Students will analyze graphs and charts in order to better understand these topics during this investigation.

  • Percent Composition, Molecular Formula, Percent Composition, Mole Concept | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Activity: Mystery Gang Empirical Formulae Mark as Favorite (183 Favorites)

In this activity, students will determine empirical formulas for samples of trace evidence collected from various crime scene scenarios. They will use the information to link a criminal to a particular crime scene.

  • Naming Compounds, Molecular Formula, Ionic Bonding, Covalent Bonding, Percent Composition, Lewis Structures | High School

Lesson Plan: Chemical Names and Formulas Unit Plan Mark as Favorite (102 Favorites)

The AACT high school classroom resource library has everything you need to put together a unit plan for your classroom: lessons, activities, labs, projects, videos, simulations, and animations. We constructed a unit plan using AACT resources that is designed to teach Chemical Names and Formulas to your students.

  • Percent Composition, Mole Concept, Identifying an Unknown, Emission Spectrum, Empirical Formula, Percent Composition | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lesson Plan: Chemical Analysis of Martian Rocks Mark as Favorite (104 Favorites)

In this lesson, students are challenged to analyze the spectral graphs obtained by the Curiosity Mars Rover. Based on their examination students will determine the component elements of each sample, as well as the relative abundance of each element. With this information the student will complete calculations to find the empirical formula and identify the composition of the unknown rock. Finally students will complete research to see if these rocks are actually like those on Earth.

  • Percent Composition, Law of Definite Proportions | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lab: Formula of an Unknown Hydrate Mark as Favorite (35 Favorites)

In this lab, students will design a laboratory procedure in order to ultimately determine the formula of an unknown hydrated salt. Students must recognize what data points are necessary to collect during the process, as well as how to analyze the data appropriately.

  • Percent Composition, Percent Composition, Mole Concept, Dimensional Analysis | High School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lab: Percent Composition of Bubble Gum Mark as Favorite (62 Favorites)

In this lab, students will be introduced to the concept of percent composition. Students will determine the amount of sweetener in various brands of gum by determining the mass difference of the gum before and after it is chewed.

  • Percent Composition, Scientific Method, Introduction, Percent Composition | Middle School

Access is an AACT member benefit. Lab: Mass Percent Mark as Favorite (2 Favorites)

In this lesson, students will develop a theory of how to calculate percent composition.
